A WORLD AT WAR |
||
|
PRAY I urge you, first
of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God's mercy upon them, and give thanks.
Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, for he wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.
A SPIRITUAL WAR For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12)
DON'T BE FEARFUL I told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)

Iraq Ever give much thought to Iraq? Did you know the Garden of Eden was located in Iraq? Did you know Abraham was from Iraq? Iraq is not only the "cradle of civilization" but it was the original home to the father of both the Jewish and Christian religion. That says to me Iraq may have some very important historical and spiritual significance. An early saint of The Church once described Islam as a hybrid religion developed from Judaism and Christianity. Whatever its source it is a religion that puts people in bondage and precludes them from truly knowing God and worshipping Him in spirit and in truth. Regardless of the reasons given by politicians for the war in Iraq the truth is the war in Iraq is ultimately a spiritual war (like all wars). It is part of a global war between good and evil. As Christians we are aware of the course of human events. We need to remember our confidence is in our God and not the politics of mankind. As Christians we must also remember to pray daily for all peoples especially those in leadership. |
GOOD & EVIL According to most sociologist America has entered a post-Christian era. This means the basic values of Christianity no longer effect the way America is run politically, economically or socially. So what has replaced the Judeo-Christian ethic? Relativism, humanism and the scientific model. Instead of having absolute truths, we now have relative truths. "What's true for me might not be true for you -- and that's okay". Instead of having God as the supreme authority and the power we look to; we now have humanity as the supreme authority and we look to science to justify our thinking on everything. Science has become the modern religion of America. Ultimately, this model will not last. It has been tried before in the Roman Empire, France, Great Britain, Russia and all the great nations of Western history. And each time a nation turns from God to itself it falls. And the sun is setting on the "Roman Empire" once again.
OUR CITIZENSHIP Then Jesus answered, "I am not an earthly king. If I were, my followers would have fought when I was arrested by the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world." (John 18:36)

| RACISM | ||
|
We've heard it said that President Obama is our first "post racism President". Is he really? As long as a person's race or gender is mentioned (in a positive or negative way) it is racism. If you voted against President Obama because he is "black"... that can be considered racism. If you voted for President Obama because he is "black"... that should be considered racism, too. When someone is being nominated for the United States Supreme Court what does their race or gender matter? The only thing that should matter is whether or not they are qualified to be a Supreme Court justice. So, until people stop "playing the race card" (whether they use it in a negative or a positive manner) we are still a racist nation. Read these words of the Apostle Paul: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28). Are you a racist? Do you believe that a person's nation of origin or ethnical background really matters? Isn't what really matters is the fact that all human creatures were created in the image and likeness of God? It is God Who created diversity. There is a reason for diversity. As Christians we are called to look at others with the mind and heart of Christ, not with the mind and heart of the world. |

| ABORTION | ||
|
We are told that our country's position on abortion (legalized abortions) is about 'women's rights'. What about infant rights? Should not the laws of a nation be about protecting the most helpless and most defenseless? Who is more helpless and defenseless than a newly conceived child in the womb of its mother? Women of fertility age have many ways of preventing pregnancy like abstinence and various forms of birth control. An unborn child has no ability to choose. Yes, there are situations where women become pregnant without really wanting to be pregnant. In cases such as rape then that's another issue. Laws regarding pregnancy by rape should be decided separately. But, to use abortion as a form of 'birth control' is an act of immorality and injustice against the unborn child. How did we get to a place as a society where women will choose to kill their unborn children? Through the growth of scientific atheism, ever growing immorality and ego-centric living both men and women no longer recognize the sanctity of a human life. The same people that want to prevent the slaughter of baby seals, feels it's okay to slaughter unborn children. Where is the logic in that line of reasoning? Abortion is the greatest sin against this nation and its people. The changing of abortion laws in this country should be a grave concern for all believers in God (Christian, Jew & Muslim). Silence on this matter is the same as supporting abortion. If Americans stood up for morality and justice the abortion law in this country could be changed overnight. It is our silence that contributes to the killing of these unborn children. As a believer in God, you have access to His Heart. Ask Him to step in and stop the killing. I know you'll find Him to be sympathetic to your pleas. |
